Casper

He woke up to feel the warm morning sun filtering through the curtains on a bright May morning. The woman was still sleeping, he crawled out of bed, stretched himself and wondered around the room ambling and soaking in the morning. A whiff caught his nose and he ventured in that direction. "Good Morning Casper...." came a sweet serenading sound from the direction of the bed. He looked up to see the Woman awake, still laying in bed and looking lovingly at him with all the lover a Mother could have in her eyes. She was watching him rummage around the felled laundry basket sniffing at clothes and burying himself in them. As she called out his name, he felt something rise in him. In that moment, that very moment he knew, this is Mummy. He leapt up from the pile of clothes and rushed to her, she came to meet him at his side of the bed. As he reached, he put all his might, raised in front 2 paws and put them on the side of the bed and yelped at her, eyes wide and twinkling, ...

Lovestruck....

questions, questions, questions! and answers that never seem to come.... Women, to me are the perfect examples of the Chaos Theory - one thing you do wrong now will end up having severe repurcussions later, much later and over and over again. Experience, it seems doesn't teach the Men too much in this case. Maybe we're bound by our actions and limitations. Maybe that girlfriend of yours who remembers what color of shirt you wore on the 17th date and how it wasn't ironed and eas an embarresment is just bat crap crazy. Maybe the boyfriend who kept you waiting on New Year's is an undeserving idiot. Or maybe it isn't so, we don't see it so, the World's a funny place and the people in it are funnier still. Relationship trouble seems to be the biggest trouble for people today. Not the stupid dead end job they're in or the wonders that the burgers, pizzas and aerated drinks are doing to their bodies. Elation, Anxiety, Happiness, Dreaminess and much more in...

3 Years....

Image
Its 3 years now! 3 years! That's when I moved out of B-school and into life after. Moving from there to my first job in rural Karnataka, to a bad job and many mistakes made in Hyderabad and to my current situation at home in Delhi. From being physically fit and fine to over 20 kgs overweight. Travelling around to Mumbai, Lucknow, Vishakhapatnam,  Hampi, Goa, Kashmir, Bikaner. The emotional tussles of family, love, hate, break-ups, friendship, lies. And then the unexpected turn of events leading to my house burning down, a car accident and police trouble that wasn't. But yes, I have learnt a lot, about life, about people, about me. I am definitely not the only one who had an eventful life. People I know, people close to me went through a lot. Fell in love, were betrayed in love, lost jobs, got new jobs, lost close family members - a loss nothing can ever make up for, old friends were lost, new ones made, got married, had that one unforgettable incident. A lot happened. The ...

What am I to do ?

Image
Its something we were warned of. Not once, but many times. Over and over again. To the point we started thinking 'Not this again! Come one already! We've heard this a thousand times' but we still fall prey to it. Its surprising and ironical. I still remember  " No we won't become corporate slaves, we're not that stupid! Yes we will live our lives to the full! No we won't sacrifice family and friendship for work, its really not a difficult choice! "  But alas, 3 years since the day I left B-school, all of it has come true! And not just for me, also for most of my close friends. But everybody works 10-11 hrs in my office. Its not much of a choice, its expected. The market is so bad I can't afford to lose my job. And if I don't stay there for that long, my boss is going to think I'm not interested in my work. I don't want to fall behind others. What am I to do? People I used to spend the entire day with, breakfast, lunch, dinne...

We're letting fear drive us

There are so many problems in our lives, so many questions and rather than answering them all we do is think about what would happen if we chose a particular answer. I have been contemplating a job change for quite some time now. I kept thinking about the right time to change, the right job, future scope blah blah blah…… Talking to people I know, they are worried about everything, their work, friends, girlfriends, boyfriends, money, family, marriage and most of all the future. Half the day is spent in complaining. People in the whole damn world are just running around madly in search of something they don’t even know. They’re letting fear drive them, what else. Fear of failure, the future, the unknown. And in that they forget the present. The past is so important because that’s what defines us and the future is so important because that will tell our fortunes. But what about the present? What is the point of worrying so much? Some great person said the greatest fear is fear itself. We’...

India is to Cricket what Brazil is to Football

I write this as India continue their thrashing of South Africa in the 2nd test at Eden Gardens. We are from a nation that revers cricket, cricket players, commentators, cricket news or cricket in any form whatsoever. Even a hardcore football fan from India will sit on the edge of his seat watching the IPL and its spectacular turns. For children in our country, cricket is the first game they play (apart from maybe ringa-ringa roses) and a bat and a ball is what they live with throughout their childhood. Cricketers are huge celebrities and the game is considered sacred. The question now is, what happens to us when it comes to translating this fever to victories on the grandest stages. Our one and only World Cup was a gazzillion years ago when we were petty underdogs in front of a mighty West Indies side. Our Golden Era team in the early part of this decade reached the final of the 2003 event where we were tamed like lambs. 2007 world cup was a disaster and before we could rejoice in the ...
