Casper

He woke up to feel the warm morning sun filtering through the curtains on a bright May morning. The woman was still sleeping, he crawled out of bed, stretched himself and wondered around the room ambling and soaking in the morning. A whiff caught his nose and he ventured in that direction.

"Good Morning Casper...." came a sweet serenading sound from the direction of the bed. He looked up to see the Woman awake, still laying in bed and looking lovingly at him with all the lover a Mother could have in her eyes. She was watching him rummage around the felled laundry basket sniffing at clothes and burying himself in them. As she called out his name, he felt something rise in him. In that moment, that very moment he knew, this is Mummy. He leapt up from the pile of clothes and rushed to her, she came to meet him at his side of the bed. As he reached, he put all his might, raised in front 2 paws and put them on the side of the bed and yelped at her, eyes wide and twinkling, his small tongue darting in and out as he tried to lick her. She raised him with her hands, brought him up and hugged him. Casper felt nothing could be better than mummy's hugs. He licked her ear as she hugged him and kept yelping.

Casper was a 2 months old Labrador pup. He was about 6 weeks old when 2 men came to his last home and took him away from his mother. One drove what Casper later found was called a motorbike while the other sat back and held him. He was too dreary in the trip and did not remember much until he was let go in a large house with a big garden. It was there he had first met Mummy and Daddy. He had also met Daddy's daddy and mummy there, it was their house. The first 2 days he had spent sulking around and sleeping. He hadn't been feeling well since the motorbike. Then Mummy put something for him to eat. How did he know it was for him? He didn't remember. All he remembered was the sweet smell coming from the dish. He was hungry. Though labs are always hungry, he really was. As soon as the bowl was put there, he jumped to it and gobbled it all up. He was so little then that he put 2 of his paws inside the bowl to stop it from sliding away.

But that was 3 weeks ago! Casper had grown a lot since then becoming bigger and stronger by the day. He had gotten his own small bed inside a large crate. At first he found it too big, now we could stand on his hind legs and peep over the top.
